1 March 2025, 7pm

St German’s Church, Adamsdown

Here will we sit, and let the sounds of music
Creep in our ears – soft stillness and the night
Become the touches of sweet harmony
(William Shakespeare, The Merchant of Venice, 5.1.63-65)

Shakespeare’s plays are full of music, and his writings have inspired musical interpretations since they were first penned over 400 years ago.

Cardiff Polyphonic Choir presents an evening of music inspired by the works of William Shakespeare. Featuring pieces by George Shearing, Robert Pearsall, and Emma Lou Diemer, as well as Welsh composers Richard Elfyn Jones and Mansell Thomas, the program showcases the enduring power of Shakespeare’s words to spark musical creativity.

Whether you’re a devoted fan of renaissance literature, a lover of theatre, or simply curious about the magical connection between words and music, this event promises to captivate your heart and imagination.

We warmly invite you to join us for a thoroughly enchanting evening!
