Handel’s thrilling ‘Dixit Dominus’ takes centre stage in Cardiff Polys next concert, in the Royal Welsh College’s Dora Stoukzer Hall at on Sunday, 29 March at 2.30pm. It’s a work from Handel’s early stay in Italy. Composed when he was only 22, it’s an exuberant showcase for the young man’s prodigious talent. Full of Italian warmth, sunshine, and vocal and instrumental fireworks, it’s a work to banish any late winter blues.
Vivaldi’s Magnificat and Purcell’s ode ‘Welcome to All the Pleasures’ also feature in this feast of baroque music. And we perform a real rarity – French composer Michel-Richard De Lalande’s Cantate Domino.
The Polys are joined once again by the period instrumentalists of Réjouissance, with a team of great soloists including Jessica Cale, Ana Fernandez, and Chris Fitzgerald-Lombard, under our musical director David Young.
Tickets are only £12 (students £5, and accompanied children free), from the College on HERE or by phone on 02920 391391
