A year ago, 27 October 2019, Cardiff Polys joined with Cardiff Ardwyn Singers and Llandaff Cathedral Choral Society to sing Mendelssohn’s ‘Elijah’ in Berlin’s magnificent Philharmonie hall.
It completed a hugely successful collaboration with Berlin’s Sinfonie Orchester Schöneberg, under their conductor Raphael Haeger. Our visit to Berlin followed the orchestra’s visit to South Wales, with performances in BBC Hoddinott Hall, Cardiff, and St Davids Cathedral in Pembrokeshire.
We rounded off the evening in Berlin with an encore – the stirring Welsh hymn ‘Tydi a Roddaist’. Relive it in this recording, with photographs taken during our visit.
