Cardiff Polyphonic Choir: Requiem: Gabriel Fauré and Maurice Duruflé
16th March 2019 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Saturday 16 March, 7.30 pm, St Augustine’s Church, Penarth
These two lovely settings by French composers are separated by nearly sixty years. The Fauré was first heard in Paris at the church of the Madeleine in 1888 (the year before John Singer Sargent’s painting of Fauré, above). Duruflé’s Requiem was also premiered in Paris, in 1947.
We’re delighted to be back in St Augustine’s. The church’s acoustics and 1895 William Hill organ will be ideally suited for works by composers who were also renowned organists. We’re delighted that David Geoffrey Thomas will be playing for us both in Penarth and in our second performance, which will be the following Saturday, 23 March in St Katharine Cree Church in London as part of the Brandenburg Choral Festival of London.
Cardiff Choirs Information Exchange is a platform for local choirs to exchange details of their forthcoming concerts.
We have agreed to circulate details of each other’s concerts to our members to help with publicising events.
We also attempt to keep an up-to-date list of forthcoming concerts on this page to which we can all refer to avoid clashes when planning dates and repertoire.
Please help us keep this current by sending us details of any concerts you have planned so that we can add them to the calendar, using the form:
